When you really think back in time, life was much simpler in the 1970’s. We didn’t have the Internet, and if it did exist it was in a research lab somewhere and except for a few whispers, most of us had never heard of it.
Back then, kids played outside more and didn’t have the gaming consoles, iPhones, computers, or all the other techy devices and technology we have today. They rode their bikes and spent more time with their family. A drive with your parents for an ice cream cone or a hamburger was a real treat. And, disco was in and everyone was doing the hustle!
It is quite interesting to also take a look back over the years and reflect on how much everything cost back then. The facts should serve as a good reminder to us all of the importance of having and following a household budget in our day-to-day lives, and knowing what things cost. As you can see, nothing usually decreases in price, just the opposite.
We created the following comparison of the price of things today with the price of things back then. For example, take milk. Milk really is not any different today than it was 40 years ago, other than you have more choices (i.e. skim vs whole or 2%, etc). Or, eggs. They still come from those same chickens, don’t they?
